Tokyo Bizarro

Every once in awhile I check out the Japan Times website for news from Tokyo. Today, I found a story that caused me to laugh out loud and stirred my feelings of fondness for the quirkiness of the world's largest metropolis. It seems the many Col. Sanders statues that grace the front of the ubiquitous KFC fast food restaurants in Tokyo have become the target of "frenzied" fans. The company that owns the KFC franchise in Japan also owns the Hanshin Tigers baseball team. Col. Sanders has come to be viewed as an unlikely icon for the fate of the team. Read the story here.
